Explanation about Nike vs SombrA, and apologies to Magic

D3porte wants to clarify the events that took place during the match between Magic.Nike and D&M.SombrA during the D3porte International Tournament Losers Final.

After searching for the most suitable server for the players, the admins chose one that didn’t allow refereeing, however the ping was low and fair for both players. Just at that moment, D3porte admins made the mistake of considering the server as valid, so the match started. Right after the start, a player with the “Magic” clan tag connected to the server. Spectators at GTV started to complain, since a player connected  directly to the server doesn’t have any delay while spectating, so he could be able to bring some aid to one of the contenders (timing or telling the other contender’s position) using software as TeamSpeak.

D3porte admins did not believe that Magic used any kind of technique or trick to take an advantage during the competition, but it was mandatory to kick the player that wasn’t participating in the match. The organizers wanted  to eliminate any kind of doubts regarding a possible victory for Magic.Nike. The admin asked the player with the “Magic” clan tag to disconnect from the server twice. Finally the spectator left the server during the 8th minute. Right after the 2nd map (pro-q3dm6)  was finished and with Magic.Nike as the winner,  the contenders and  two admins had a private meeting to discuss about the incident and to find the best solution for it. Both players, Nike and SombrA, agreed to play the map again just to remove any controversy or doubt. To avoid the incident to be repeated, another admin from D3porte connected to the server, using the last free slot. After repeating the 2nd map the result changed and victory was for D&M.SombrA, opposite to the previous result, where Magic.Nike was the winner. So D&M.Sombra won the losers final by 2-1   and despite of the repetition of the 2nd map any credit shouldn’t  be taken away from Magic.Nike.

Through this post, D3porte admins assume the responsibility for allowing the match to be started without any referee that could have had some control to prevent situations  as the aforementioned from happening. We also want to officially apologize to Magic for what happened, bearing in mind that the final result could be different, and praising Nike’s great sportsmanship and courage. He had won the 2nd map, but he accepted to play it again, just to clarify that no cheating or tricking was used during the match.

From now on, D3porte admins are going to prevent any match from taking place if there is some spectator connected to the server that doesn’t belong to D3porte’s staff.

We hope that Magic team, and specially Nike, accept our apologies so we can count with them for upcoming events.
